A video meeting took place between the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and the Speaker of the Parliament of Montenegro Aleksa Bečić.

Underlining the friendly relations between Azerbaijan and Montenegro, President Ilham Aliyev hailed the ongoing high-level dialogue between the two countries, including at the level of heads of state and commended the development of inter-parliamentary ties.

The President noted the good foundations for the development of cooperation in various fields, including economy, trade, energy and transport, and underlined the importance of the Joint Intergovernmental Commission in this regard.

Speaker of the Parliament of Montenegro, Aleksa Bečić, praised the active political dialogue between the two countries. Aleksa Bečić noted that Montenegro has always supported the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Azerbaijan. Describing Montenegro as a friend of Azerbaijan, Aleksa Bečić praised the Azerbaijani people for the country’s achievements.

Noting that relations between the two countries are of a strategic partnership nature, the Speaker of the Montenegrin Parliament stressed the importance of signing a relevant document in this area.

The parties also discussed the mutual support of the two countries within international organizations, including inter-parliamentary institutions, as well as other issues of interest.
