How to use Instagram Double

(Pocket-lint) – Instagram has added a new feature called Dual, and it lets you use both your front and back cameras.

The idea is that you can record something interesting, while recording your reaction, and both will appear on screen at the same time.

If you’ve ever watched a streamer on Twitch, you’re probably familiar with the format, where gameplay takes center stage, but a smaller face camera shows the streamer’s reactions.

So, now that we know what it is, here’s how to access it:

How to create a double video

  1. Open your Instagram app and tap the More icon at the top to create a post
  2. From the drop-down menu, select Reel
  3. On the left side of your screen, you will see many icons, tap the down arrow show more
  4. Select the camera icon which is labeled Double
  5. Press the big one Reel icon in the center to record your video
  6. Once you’re done, you can continue editing your video or add filters and effects before publishing.

What’s new?

Along with the addition of Dual, Instagram introduced a variety of changes to how Reels work.

Above all, Reels becomes the default format for all video content on the platform. So now when you post a video less than 15 minutes, it will automatically become a reel.

There will no longer be a separate tab for videos and reels on your profile, they will both be combined in one tab.

There are many new features for Remixes, including new layout choices and the ability to create a Remix from a photo post.

Instagram has also introduced a variety of templates to make creating reels easier than ever.
