Friday July 16, at Featherstone brings Approach to Painting with Eva Cincotta from 9am to 12pm in the Art Barn. This is a course in watercolor, oil and acrylic painting techniques that lead to fast, loose and vibrant works. It is also offered on Mondays at the same time. At 12 p.m., an A Gallery pop-up exhibition, curated by Tanya Augoustinos, runs until 4 p.m. and runs daily until the end of July. There is also an Open Pottery Studio session from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m., which allows students to work on their own. Studio opening hours are also available Sunday through Thursday. Featherstone Friday live music continues with the Dukes of Circuit Avenue from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. This homage to classic rock will take place on the lawn surrounding the Art Barn terrace.
Monday July 19 is another musical Monday on the Featherstone campus. Live music begins at 6:30 p.m. but who performs is to be determined.
On Tuesday July 20, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., Lucinda Sheldon will teach beadwork: the art of knotting, a class that takes place in the jewelry workshop. Then, from 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., you can take an Allison Doherty printmaking exploration workshop. From 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., Throwing Pots is offered by Frank Creney, which is a ceramics class for intermediate and advanced students. Also on Tuesdays, there is a Photographers ‘Lounge at 7 p.m. showcasing Dan Waters’ photography. He will present his work and discuss his creative process and inspiration. This event is free and open to the public.
Wednesday July 21 also brings many events, starting with Acrylic Painting from 9am to 12pm with John Holladay. Next, Painting the Landscape with Watercolors takes place from 1 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. with instructor Lynne Hoeft. In the evening, the outdoor summer film series provided by the MV Film Society continues with the film “Best Summer Ever”. The screening on the Featherstone campus starts around 8:30 p.m., but doors open at 7:30 p.m., so you can arrive early and have a picnic.
