TEHRAN – Iranian editor Hayedeh Safiyari has been selected as a member of a jury to judge first feature films at the Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival in Estonia.

She is a fellow of the Academy of Cinema Arts and Sciences and is best known for her long-standing collaborations with Iranian director Asghar Farhadi, whose “A Separation” and “The Salesman” received the Oscar for Best Picture in foreign language. .

She has edited more than 90 feature films and several documentaries during her thirty-year career.

Most of the edits she has made have been made for world-renowned filmmakers such as Bahram Beizai, Reza Dormishian and Mani Haqiqi.

Guatemalan director and producer Jayro Bustamante is the jury president of the Tallinn Black Nights First Feature Competition, which runs November 12-28.

Icelandic filmmaker Elfar Adalsteins, Bangladeshi director Mostofa Sarwar Farooki and Luxembourg producer and distributor Paul Thiltges are other members of the jury.

Panah Panahi’s “Hit the Road” is the only Iranian film competing in the category.

One day, he leaves the girls alone at home to participate in a funeral ceremony. That same day, the city was hit by a bombardment, and a bomb fell in his garden. From that moment on, a kind of ghostly vibration upsets its own reality, and the world of the dead seems to merge with the world of the living.

The Iranian drama “Orthodontics” directed by Mohammadreza Mayqani has been selected to be screened in Rebels With Their Shorts 2, and “The Fourth Wall” by Iranian director Mahbubeh Kalai will be screened in the Short Animation Competition 4.
