The goal of W&M news is to tell the stories of the university community to internal and external audiences with the aim of showcasing the people, programs, traditions and values that make W&M unique.
W&M news welcomes story ideas from members of the University community and we encourage you to submit your suggestions.
In our work, we use the following formats and resources:
W&M News operates as a digital publication and uses journalistic standards, including Associated Press style with some W&M-specific modifications. To ensure consistency in our stories, we remove unquoted/unattributed information.
Photography services can be requested from the university photographer. Requests for photographs already taken can be submitted to University Web & Design via a photo request form. For historic W&M photos, contact the University Archives.
W&M news produces videos that often appear in conjunction with stories, but sometimes stand alone. These videos are unscripted and shot in a news format, with the length of the final product often being less than three minutes; videos shot for social media are often even shorter. To discuss video ideas for W&M News, [[dcwill, contact David Williard]]. For non-news related videos, contact the University’s Video Marketing team.
The University Communications team manages the official communications of the university Facebook, TwitterInstagram and Flickr as well as W&M blogs and our team is ready to share our top recommendations for using social media at William & Mary.
