Despite the weekly snowstorms that Coloradans have started marking on their calendars this year, spring is calling and here in Magazine 303, we embrace it.
To ring in the spring, our style team has put together six looks that we think are this season’s ultimate must-haves. Photographed by 303 Photo Editor Adrian Thomas, the 303 fashion writers grabbed the best stripes, colors and leathers we could find and posed for the camera at kingdom of denver.
Between the lines
Like last year, spring is all about mixing and matching prints and patterns. However, stripes define spring 2022. Whether it’s horizontal or vertical stripes, pairing a striped blouse with simple bottoms gives a chic and dimensional professional look.
As a fashion editor, it’s not often that I pose for the camera. There’s nothing I love more than wearing a simple black skirt and ankle boots to the next level, and what better way to do that than with an oversized striped blouse? To accentuate my features, we chose to tuck in one side of the blouse. The result ? A revealing slit that makes this look perfect for a night out after a long day at the office.

McClendon (right) wears Hailee Grace’s Lalo Striped Button Up $87 and Hailee Grace’s Paula Short in Tan $64. Schirmacher (left) is wearing Hailee Grace’s $70 Lila Mini Shirt Dress and Garbarini’s $158 High Waisted Slit Skirt in Black.
fashion editor Jordan McClendon channeled her boss energy through a chic striped shirt paired with camel leather shorts and tall black textured boots. The shorts give a comfortable yet stylish look and the leather elevates its presence in the process. McClendon could walk into any room in this fit and we’d know who’s boss, and also that his fashion sense is a priority in any setting.
For both looks, we went for neutral makeup using the colors found in the pieces McClendon and I wore. This allowed our skin tones and eyes to pop, but also made the stripes pop. We’ve also embraced our curls, resulting in versatile looks that will take on any day-to-day or night-time task on the town.
Although stripes are often considered unflattering, it’s clear that this spring trend can be phenomenal if styled right. Go for an oversized blouse like McClendon and me for a flattering look that creates really chic silhouettes.
color me for free
2022 is all about color, and this spring is no different. The fashion industry thrives on neon lights and bright hues galore. Incorporating pops of color into a look exudes a sense of style, but can also contribute to our overall mood. Look good, feel good, am I right?

Lieberman (left) wears the $149 Spaghetti Strap Cotton Candy Dress and $650 Biker Leather Jacket in Diva Pink, both by Garbarini. Miranda (right) wears the $198 Katrina top in sangria and the $178 Catalina skirt in sangria, both by Garbarini.
fashion editor Udella Miranda has a gorgeous complexion and long locks. In orange, her natural features absolutely showed. Dressed in a silk two-piece set from Garbarini, this orange set can be paired together or separately for that great pop of color.
Likewise, fashion writer kate liberman has beautiful natural characteristics that speak for themselves. In an elegant hot pink strappy dress by Garbarini and fun color block sneakers, Lieberman is ready for whatever life throws at her. This outfit could take her brewery to RiNo, shopping in LoHi, or even a night out in the Ballpark District.
A splash of color can come from the clothes we wear or even makeup. We opted for colored eyeshadow on Miranda and Lieberman to bring out the hues in their looks. Straight or curly hair is a perfect match for a color block look to let strands flow freely and to achieve the carefree yet put together looks that popping in pops of color can accomplish.
Motorcycle notebooks
With all the talk of spring, there are still low temperatures here in Denver every week. That’s why leather doesn’t go far yet. For chilly nights on the town, opt for a colorful leather jacket to pair with a black outfit.

Snyder (left) wears Hailee Grace’s $75 Eowyn Top in Black and $84 Flashback Jacket. Perri (right) wears Hailee Grace’s $96 Flashback jacket in purple and $96 Harper Paper-Bag pants.
Senior Stylist Ashleigh Perri gives new meaning to biker chic in an all-black outfit paired with a lavender leather jacket. These leather joggers combine comfort and style and create an intimidating look for any occasion. Paired with a leather jacket in a bright tone, this look is a great way to transition into spring despite cooler temperatures.
stylist assistant Nathalie Snyder looks striking in fishnets and a black leather dress. Her sky blue leather jacket adds a spring touch to a rather daring outfit. The leather layering is a great way to stay warm while looking fabulous at the same time. Especially in the spring, Snyder can shed a layer and reveal a whole new look.
Makeup and accessories are all the rage in these nightlife-inspired looks. From Snyder’s bold red lip to Perri’s stunning purple eyeshadow, the hair and makeup complete these stunning looks. To take those motorcycle-inspired but fashionable looks to the next level, add a harness like the ones Snyder and Perri wear from Ardeo Studios. When the heat starts to heat up in the bar or club, ditch the jacket and an entirely different look will be underneath.
the Charger 303 Fashion Desk had a blast serving up on-camera looks for a change. Special thanks to our incredible team who helped bring this shoot to life. Now, wish the occasional gloomy Colorado weather away by grabbing the best stripes, colors and leathers we can find and lighting up the streets of Denver with this season’s alluring fashion trends.
